Join the English for Action family by helping us fill the following roles:
- English for Action Facilitator
EFA Facilitators work with a co-facilitator to lead a community-based and participatory English language class for 12-15 adult learners. Facilitators devote 8-15 hours a week leading classes, planning lessons, and participating in professional development meetings. Facilitators who are college students may be eligible for work-study salaries.
- Workshop Facilitator
Workshop facilitators visit EFA classes to share their experiences and knowledge about valuable topics that affect the immigrant community. Past workshops have focused on the areas of healthcare, immigrant rights, worker?s rights, parental advocacy in the public schools, and the Arts.
- Our School Youth Mentor
Youth mentors lead arts-based and educational activities for children, ages 5 and older, while their parents are studying English. Mentors devote 8-10 hours a week in the classroom leading activities, developing creative lesson plans, and participating in professional development meetings. Mentors who are college students may be eligible for work-study salaries.
- EFA Advisory Board
EFA advisory board members serve as general advocates, fundraisers, and mentors for the organization. They also lend their expertise in specific fields to EFA staff and learners as we develop new projects and continuously improve our programs.
- Research Assistant or Intern
EFA research assistants help staff members and learners gather information and resources about such topics as adult education, family literacy, immigrant issues, and sources of funding for EFA. Research assistants may also contribute to grant writing and curriculum development.
